Steamed Dumplings with Funky Black Beans
Dumplings can be steamed, pan fried or air fried. For this version, I chose to cook them steamed in a bamboo steamer basket on the stove using a wok. The result? A delicate, smooth, chewy, savoury and juicy bite.
All dumplings need a sauce to dip into for that extra oomph. Our funky range of chilli oils is a perfect choice but you can go further and add some store bought garlic crisps, sliced spring onions and chopped coriander to make it a party.

Dumplings with Funky Black Beans
The Dumplings
The dumplings used in this recipe were frozen prepackaged Diana Chan’s and were filled with a mix of ground pork and garlic/Chinese chives. Feel free to use any of your favourite store-bought frozen dumplings or wontons and either steam or boil them. I love the silky-smooth skin texture that comes from either of these cooking methods.
Please take note you don’t need to thaw your dumplings. Simply cook them directly from frozen. If you love a crispy texture, simply add them to a saucepan with a tiny mix of water, cover and allow to crisp, flipping halfway.
Drizzle with Latasha’s Kitchen Funky Black Bean with Peanut & Miso Chilli Oil then sprinkle with store-bought garlic chips and fresh coriander leaves. Serve immediately.
